Optic Cuts

An optic cut mills your slide to accept a red dot directly — no adapter plate, no added height. The optic mounts flush to the slide, closer to bore axis, which improves accuracy and speeds up target acquisition. It's one of the more impactful changes you can make to a pistol.
Direct-Mount vs. Adapter Plates
Adapter plates bolt onto a standard slide and raise the optic above it. They work, but they add height and a mechanical interface that can shift. A machined cut puts the optic where it belongs — into the slide itself, at the lowest possible height, with no intermediary. Lower-mounted optics are easier to co-witness with iron sights and feel more natural in the draw.
Supported Footprints
We currently cut for two footprints. Confirm which footprint your optic uses before shipping.
Trijicon RMR
The most widely-used duty and competition footprint. Compatible with the Trijicon RMR, SRO, and other optics sharing the footprint.
Shield RMS
Supports the Shield RMS, RMSc, and other compatible optics at a slimmer profile than the RMR footprint.
Platform Support
Optic cuts are currently available for Glock pistols. We're working on expanding to other platforms — check back for updates.
After an optic cut: sights
Once an optic is installed, standard-height iron sights no longer clear the optic body for co-witnessing. You'll need optic-height or suppressor-height sights to maintain a usable iron sight picture. We carry Angry Bear Arms sights in the right heights.
